Our Team

Lynette Philip, Attorney

Lynette has been practicing family law in Whatcom County since 2003. Born and raised in Namibia, she graduated with an LL.B from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1998. Lynette began her career as a prosecuting attorney in Johannesburg in 1989. After relocation to the United States in 1992, she practiced oil, gas and mining law as in-house counsel in both Colorado and Oklahoma. In 2003, she opened her practice here in Bellingham focusing exclusively on family law matters.

Lynette works closely with clients to assist them in developing effective and personally tailored solutions. She is fully committed to supporting her clients every step of the way, recognizing that each and every decision will have long-term implications on her clients’ family relations and financial future. She works hard to settle each case, but if resolution at trial is necessary, she is an experienced and committed litigator.

In her down time, Lynette enjoys photographing marine and African wildlife, playing her piano, listening to music and cooking.

Maria Johnson, Paralegal

Maria graduated with her Paralegal Certificate from Whatcom Community College in 2014.  Starting as an intern in 2014, she worked in Immigration Law until 2017 when she started working in Family Law.  Maria has been Lynette's right arm since 2017, and in 2020 they started up their own firm in Bellingham, WA.
